This is my Mom’s Overnight French Toast casserole, and it’s a family tradition. As my mom likes to say, it’s the kind of thing she loves to do because it lets you prepare ahead of time and not deal with the last minute rush.
Mom’s Overnight French Toast couldn’t be any easier. You simply put it together in a 4-qt. temp-tations baker, stick it in the fridge overnight, and bake it the following morning for about an hour. The cinnamon makes it smell delicious while its baking, and what comes out of the oven will make everyone ooh and ahh.
Featuring French bread, eggs, milk, butter, brown sugar, vanilla and cinnamon, it’s a very adaptable recipe that you can enjoy as is, or add your favorite mix-ins. In this version, to add a little extra flavor and texture, I added dried cranberries and walnuts – yum!
Here’s a Mother’s Day tip: Pass this recipe along to your significant other or your kids who are old enough to cook. Hint that you’d love a little pampering, and that this easy make-ahead breakfast casserole will do the trick!
And if that doesn’t work, make it yourself the night before and leave instructions for a certain someone to bake it off in the morning, while you sleep in 😉
