This dish is a fall tradition in my house. It's a great, less candy-sweet alternative to the usual yam or sweet potato casserole. - Tara

  • 3 cups peeled, diced sweet potato
  • 2 cups diced turnip
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/8 cup apple juice
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place sweet potato, turnip and vegetable oil in a 2-quart temp-tations® baking dish and toss to coat. Bake 35 minutes, stirring twice, until sweet potatoes are soft.
  2. Remove from oven and add remaining ingredients. Use a large fork or masher to mash until combined. Turnips will not fully mash; this is normal. Serve immediately.
